The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Benue State Chapter, has urged its members to maintain calm and wait for instructions from the union leaders in response to Tuesday’s orders from Benue State University management directing all staff to resume with immediate effect.

PulseNets reports that the BSU’s management ordered all staff members to report back to work immediately in a statement issued by the registrar, Mrs. Mfaga Modom.

Terrumun H. Gajir, Secretary of the ASUU-BSU, responded to the order in a statement on Wednesday, advising members to maintain their composure and wait for future instructions.

Any member found to be in breach of the strike would face disciplinary action, the union said.

According to him, “ASUU-BSU is still on strike as declared by the national body”, adding that the circular does not concern its members.

On September 29, 2022, he requested that an emergency congress be held to address the members’ next steps.
