Oshiomhole Picks Edo North Senatorial District Form

There are indications that the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has finally abandoned his presidential ambition.

Reports emanating from Edo north indicated that he has picked nomination form to enable him contest for the Edo North senatorial seat, completely away from media glare.

Oshiomhole had on Friday, 29 April, announced his intention to pick the nomination of form to enable him run for the president of the country.

The official declaration which was to hold at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture Abuja, was however postponed till further notice.

Oshiomhole’s media aide, Victor Oshioke, had in a statement said:

The formal declaration of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for the office of President, Federal Republic of Nigeria under the platform of APC which was advertised to hold today, April 29th 2022 is hereby postponed. The new date for the event will be communicated appropriately.”

But a political associate who was at his Iyamho country home, Etsako West local government to celebrate the end of Ramadan festival, over the weekend, hinted that “the declaration was a ruse”.

The associate who craved anonymity added that “Oshiomole for Senate is a reality which will be actualized.”

He disclosed that the former Governor of Edo State was on ground at his country home to further assure his supporters who came in numbers to support his Senatorial ambition.

“The supporters who came from across the six local governments of the district, later took their turn to append their signatures on some sections of the nomination form which is a mandatory requirement before onward submission of the form,” he said.

When contacted on phone for official confirmation, Oshiomhole’s media aide, Victor Oshioke, promised to reach out to our Correspondent with an official statement shortly.

As at the time of filing this report, Oshioke was yet to come up with his statement.

Oshiomhole is expected to slug it out with incumbent Senator Francis Alimikhena at the party’s primaries to determine who flies the party’s flag at the National Assemblies elections scheduled for February next year.
