One shot dead as suspected internet fraudsters protest against EFCC in Delta

At a protest against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ughelli, Delta State’s Ughelli North Local Government Area, one person is said to have been shot dead.

PulseNets learned that during the rally, a number of trucks were also set ablaze.

The alleged internet fraudsters have fled the Otovwodo neighbourhood in Ughelli as of the time this report was filed out of fear that they won’t be apprehended by security personnel who are on the scene to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

In a phone conversation with our correspondent in Warri, the public relations officer for the Delta State Police, DSP Bright Edafe, said,  “I am not aware of that now. I am waiting for information.”

It’s unclear if the victim of the shooting was one of the alleged internet scammers.
