PDP disrupting fuel supplies to blackmail the federal government — Tinubu reiterates

President Tinubu Signs Electricity Act 2023 Into Law

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has once more accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of destroying the nation’s petroleum supply in order to use it as leverage against the federal government.

According to PULSENETS, Tinubu claimed that the ongoing fuel crisis and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s redesign of the naira were part of a scheme to thwart the election and his predicted victory. This was said during the APC presidential campaign held at the MKO Abiola stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

“They don’t want this election to hold. They want to scuttle it. Will you allow them? They have started coming up with the issue of ‘no fuel’. Don’t worry, if there is no fuel, we will trek to cast the vote. If you like, increase the price of fuel, hide the fuel or change the ink on the naira notes, we will win the election…Let the price of fuel continue to increase, they are the ones that know where they are hoarding it. They are hoarding naira notes, they are hoarding fuel, we will vote and we will win. If you like, change the ink in the naira note, we will win the election, the opposition will be defeated,” Tinubu had said.

The Atiku/Okowa Campaign Organization, however, said that Tinubu was complaining about the revaluation of the naira since the decision has thwarted his plans to deploy slush funds for vote buying and other manipulative tactics.

However, addressing on Wednesday at an APC presidential campaign event in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, Tinubu said that the PDP administration granted gasoline retail licences to their loyalists and allies while in office.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his media office and signed by Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Tinubu emphasised that PDP sympathisers and supporters are now stockpiling petrol to cause protracted lines across the nation and put Nigerians through hardship.

Tinubu said: “They met good oil prices for 16 good years, they didn’t remember gas pipelines, they are what I called saboteurs yesterday. They gave PMS license to their supporters and sympathisers. They are the ones who started creating fake queues. PDP, enough is enough.”

Furthering his criticism on Atiku Abubakar, the APC presidential candidate stated that the PDP candidate was unaware that his claim that he was operating a transport company while employed by the Customs Service violated Nigerian civil service law.

“They asked him, you are so rich, where did you get your money from, and he said from doing transport business. He didn’t know that was an offence. The only thing you are allowed to do as a civil servant is farming.”
