Joy Bishara, one of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls, managed to escape from the clutches of Boko Haram when they attacked Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, on April 14, 2014.
This brave young woman has recently become engaged while residing in the United States of America.
During the tragic incident, a total of 276 female students aged between 16 and 18 fell victim to the terrorist group’s kidnapping. Out of these, about 57 schoolgirls courageously escaped by leaping from the trucks that were transporting them.
Additionally, some others were later rescued by the Nigerian Armed Forces, yet unfortunately, more than 100 remained missing.

Joy Bishara, alongside her cousin Lydia Pogu, were among the fortunate ones who successfully escaped the harrowing attack that garnered global attention. Subsequently, they decided to start anew in the United States.
In pursuit of her dreams and aspirations, Joy Bishara graduated from Southeastern University, where she earned a degree in social work in 2021.
Her journey is a testament to resilience and determination in the face of unimaginable challenges.
