University of Africa Toru-Orua (UAT) Graduates Kick-starts Processes for the Establishment of an Alumni Association
𝐈𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐀 𝟕-𝐌𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞:
We, the graduates of the University of Africa Toru-orua (UAT), are pleased to announce the successful inauguration of the interim 7-man Caretaker committee for the alumni association. The inauguration took place on Sunday, 4th of February 2024, following the first meeting held on the 28th of January 2024, which kick-started the process of establishing an Alumni Association for the purpose of networking, career development, fundraising, student support, community building, advocacy, advancement and overall development of the University.
The meeting was well attended by 396 graduates from all sets of graduates, demonstrating the commitment and enthusiasm of UAT alumni towards the growth and development of our alma mater.
The members of the Caretaker Committee inaugurated are as follows:
1. Chiefson Ebikabo-owei (Class 2021)- Chairman
2. Happiness Marine (Class 2022) – Vice Chairperson
3. Azikiwe Godknows (Class 2021) – Secretary
4. Ozini Franca (Class 2021) – Treasurer
5. James Jacob (Class 2022) – Spokesman
6. Demeoru Joshua (Class 2023) – Membership Coordinator.
7. Awipi Pius (Class 2023) – Events Coordinator
The committee was duely constituted with members nominated from the existing 3 classes of graduates, namely Class of 2021, 2022, and 2023. The committee shall liaise with the university to help formulate and build a formidable and solid foundation for the alumni association, develop a framework, define the purpose, objectives and aim of the association, develop a constitution and other relevant structures of the association, conduct an election to bring in a substantive executive council and other necessary organs of the association, and develop a database of all graduates.
We urge all graduates of the University of Africa Toru-orua to participate actively in the activities and programs of the alumni association, as it promises to be an avenue for networking, career development, and overall development of the University.
