Head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has expressed concerns over the frequent abductions in Nigeria are extremely.
In a post via X (Twitter) on Sunday, February 26, 2024, Pope Francis noted that he was praying and hoping that efforts would be made to contain these incidents.
“The increasingly frequent kidnappings in Nigeria are extremely concerning,” he said.
“I express my closeness in prayer to the Nigerian people, hoping that efforts will be made to contain the spread of these incidents as much as possible.”
The Pope’s concern comes amid an uptick in abductions for ransom in some parts of the country.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has also not been spared as kidnappers lay siege to certain estates and border communities.
