Nigeria Police Unveils E-CMR Innovation: A Game-Changer for Vehicle Verification and Theft Recovery

The Nigeria Police Force has unveiled several potential benefits stemming from the introduction of the Electronic Central Motor Registry (E-CMR) innovation.

This breakthrough Electronic Central Motor Registry system is set to transform the way vehicle information is verified and tracked, particularly in cases of theft.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while speaking to PulseNets through his X handle on Thursday, highlighted some of the advantages of the new innovation.

According to Adejobi, the new technology ensures “No more stopping to check papers- our officers are equipped with cutting-edge tech to verify documents in real-time.”

He also told PulseNets that if a vehicle registered with the NPF E-CMR is stolen, “you can instantly flag it as stolen through your online profile,” paving the way for swift recovery.

PulseNets recalls that the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, had in July ordered the enforcement of the digitalised Central Motor Registry system.

The IGP explained that this initiative aims to modernise and digitize the motor vehicle registration process, enhancing both safety and security across the country.
