Bayelsa Police Arrest Six Cult Suspects Over Constable’s Killing, Vows Justice

The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of six suspected cultists in connection with the brutal killing of Police Constable Oboh Goodluck in Yenagoa.

PulseNets learnt that the Commissioner of Police, CP Francis Idu, disclosed this during the funeral rites of the slain officer on Friday in the Bayelsa capital.

According to information obtained by PulseNets, Constable Goodluck was ambushed and murdered by suspected cult members on August 19 at the OMPADEC axis of Amarata community while he was on his way to duty.

Speaking at the solemn event, CP Idu revealed that security operatives are closing in on other key suspects. “Those who masterminded this act will not escape. They will be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law,” he assured.

He further issued a stern warning to individuals plotting attacks against law enforcement officers, stressing that such acts would be met with firm consequences. “Anyone who dares to harm a police officer must be ready for the wrath of justice,” Idu told PulseNets.

The Police Commissioner also gave assurance to the grieving family, noting that the Force would not relent until the culprits are prosecuted. “The Nigeria Police will always defend and stand by its men. Constable Goodluck’s killers will pay for this crime,” he said.

In a symbolic gesture, CP Idu announced that a formal request will be forwarded to Governor Douye Diri to designate the very site of the killing as a monument in memory of the fallen officer.

What we want is justice for our late son,” Robert spoke to PulseNets.

The tragic incident has sparked fresh calls for community vigilance and stronger action against cult-related violence in Bayelsa State.
