Russia Bombards Nearly Every District of Kyiv, Triggering Fires Across the Ukrainian Capital
A wave of coordinated Russian strikes tore through Kyiv early Friday, triggering explosions, fires, and widespread panic across multiple districts of the capital. Emergency officials confirmed that at least 11 people sustained injuries, while five were hospitalised, including a man in critical condition and a pregnant woman, after what authorities described as one of the most intense overnight assaults in recent weeks.
PulseNets learnt that air-defence systems were activated across the city moments after the first blasts echoed through residential areas, forcing thousands to huddle in shelters as the assault continued. Authorities warned that power and water disruptions could occur as emergency teams battled flames and cleared debris from damaged buildings.
Images that surfaced on social media captured widespread devastation — burning structures, shattered windows, and residents standing in rubble-filled courtyards. Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, confirmed in a briefing that several districts had been struck. “Multiple neighbourhoods have suffered heavy damage, particularly residential blocks,” he said, noting that heating services were cut off in at least one district due to infrastructure impact.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, also addressed the situation on Telegram. “Russian forces are deliberately striking residential communities. We are recording severe damage to multi-storey buildings across almost every district,” he wrote, adding that both drones and missiles were deployed in the assault. PulseNets obtained confirmation that emergency responders were dispatched to several hotspots as fires continued to erupt.
In Darnytskyi district, debris fell into the compound of an apartment complex and an educational facility, while a parked vehicle was engulfed in flames after being struck by fragments. Over in Dniprovskyi, falling debris damaged three residential buildings, destroyed parts of a private residence, and sparked a fire in an open area. The Podilskyi district reported damage to five apartment blocks and another non-residential structure.

Additional fires were reported elsewhere in the city as fragments rained down, and authorities urged residents to remain underground until the all-clear signal was issued.
Beyond the capital, Russian strikes also hit parts of the wider Kyiv region. Regional head Mykola Kalashnyk told PulseNets that critical infrastructure and several private homes were damaged during the barrage. A 55-year-old man in Bila Tserkva suffered severe burns and was rushed to hospital as emergency teams fought fires in suburban neighbourhoods.

The renewed assault comes amid heightened political pressure across Europe. EU officials reiterated this week that Ukraine must intensify its anti-corruption actions, particularly after a recent scandal involving senior nuclear energy officials. Despite the warnings, European leaders assured Kyiv that financial and military support will continue as Ukrainian forces struggle to repel Russia’s advancing offensive.
