PDP Crisis Deepens as Wike-Aligned Faction Announces Emergency BoT and NEC Meetings

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced that an emergency joint session of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) will convene on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

PulseNets learnt that the notice—signed by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and circulated through the X handle of Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka—confirmed that both gatherings will be held at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

According to the circular obtained by PulseNets, the BoT meeting will commence at 11:00 a.m., while the NEC session will follow at 2:00 p.m. The notice stressed that “attendance is very important as crucial matters will be discussed and addressed.”

PulseNets reported that tensions within the party deepened earlier in the year during the PDP’s 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, where several heavyweight members—among them Wike, Anyanwu, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu—were expelled over allegations of anti-party conduct.

The expulsion motion, PulseNets learnt, was initiated by former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Bode George, and seconded by Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Samaila Buga.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also serves as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, subsequently subjected the motion to a voice vote. Delegates overwhelmingly endorsed the decision, signaling the party’s renewed resolve to confront internal dissent and enforce discipline across its ranks.
