Wike Declares Political Dominance in Rivers, Says His Camp Can Deliver Any Candidate
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed that he and his political base retain the strength, structure, and grassroots machinery required to determine electoral outcomes in Rivers State and beyond.
Wike, PulseNets learnt, said his political family was instrumental in the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 general election, particularly in Rivers State, where he insisted the support was decisive.
The FCT minister made the assertion on Monday while holding separate engagements with his supporters and political allies in Etche and Omuma Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
According to Wike, the influence of his political structure went beyond delivering the presidential vote, noting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also clinched victories across all elective positions at both the National Assembly and Rivers State House of Assembly levels, in addition to winning the governorship seat.
PulseNets obtained that Wike described the outcomes as proof of his capacity to mobilise, organise, and secure electoral success whenever his political camp is fully engaged.
Addressing the dynamics of Rivers State politics, the minister advised his supporters in Omuma LGA to remain loyal to their political leadership, urging them to take direction from their representative. “Listen to Kelechi,” Wike was quoted as saying. “Whatever he tells you, that is exactly where I stand.”
Speaking at the gathering, the member representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Kelechi Nwogu, openly declared that Governor Siminalayi Fubara would not enjoy the backing of Omuma people should he seek re-election.
Nwogu, who spoke to PulseNets after the meeting, told Wike not to lose sleep over the 2027 general elections, stressing that Omuma’s position was already clear. “If the sitting governor decides to contest again, Omuma will not support him,” he stated.

He further criticised what he described as political ingratitude, warning against abandoning established leadership for personal ambition. “The most dangerous person to follow in life is an ungrateful person,” Nwogu said. “When someone claims to be number one, let me be clear, sir, I can never place myself ahead of my leader. Even if that position is offered to me, I will reject it.”
Continuing, he added, “It is unfortunate when a son suddenly wants to be bigger than his father simply because of power.”

Nwogu also dismissed recent political defections as insignificant, questioning the real electoral value of individuals crossing over to the All Progressives Congress (APC) while proclaiming loyalty to President Tinubu. He assured Wike and the President that Omuma people remain solidly aligned with them.
PulseNets reported that Wike also paid a visit to Etche Local Government Area, where he addressed party faithful and political supporters, emphasising that full-scale political activities ahead of the next election cycle would formally begin in January.
