ADC Bayelsa Suspends All Congresses Indefinitely as INEC Orders Status Quo

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bayelsa State Chapter, has announced the immediate and indefinite suspension of all previously scheduled Ward, Local Government Area (LGA), and State Congresses, according to a memo obtained by PulseNets.

The directive, PulseNets learnt, follows the firm position of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which has instructed all political parties to maintain the status quo ante bellum. The commission also made it clear that it will neither recognize, supervise, nor validate any congress or faction at this time.

The state leadership of the party, under Johnny Tovie Derek, stated that the directive remains final and binding, leaving no room for negotiation or defiance.

Any individual, group, or faction that proceeds to organize, convene, sponsor, or participate in any unauthorized congress or gathering, PulseNets reported, will be deemed to be acting against lawful authority and threatening the peace and order within the party and the state.

The statement further warned that such actions will attract immediate disciplinary measures, with offenders to be reported to relevant law enforcement authorities for investigation and possible prosecution. The party emphasized that it will deploy all legal avenues to ensure strict compliance and accountability.

Members were also cautioned that ignorance, defiance, or reliance on directives from any illegal faction will not be accepted as justification for violating the order.

PulseNets learned that security agencies have been placed on alert following credible intelligence regarding attempts by certain individuals and groups to act in violation of the directive. Authorities have been urged to closely monitor and prevent any unlawful political gatherings carried out under the guise of party congresses.

The ADC Bayelsa State Chapter reiterated that it will not condone acts of indiscipline, insubordination, or lawlessness, warning that swift action will be taken against any defaulters.

All members and stakeholders have therefore been directed to comply strictly, maintain order, and refrain from engaging in any unauthorized political activity pending further official communication.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to order, discipline, and the rule of law.
