EU Funded Traineeship 2026: European Union Opens Applications for Nigerian Graduates in Abuja

The European Union has opened applications for its 2026 funded traineeship programme targeting young Nigerian graduates, offering an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within its diplomatic framework.

In a statement issued on Thursday and obtained by PulseNets, the EU unveiled the “funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and ECOWAS.”

“We offer a traineeship of up to 6 months in 2026 within the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI) Section of the EU Delegation to Nigeria.

“The tentative start month is July 2026. The deadline for submitting applications is 08/05/2026,” the statement stated.

PulseNets learnt that the programme is specifically designed for young graduates with a keen interest in international relations and a strong curiosity about diplomatic operations, particularly how the EU Delegation promotes its interests and core values in Nigeria.

Further details obtained by PulseNets indicate that the Political, Press and Information (PPI) Section plays a strategic role in supporting the Head of Delegation by strengthening political relations with Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), while also analysing and reporting political developments.

The section is also actively engaged with government institutions, local authorities, civil society organisations, think tanks, and the media to advance EU engagement in the region.

The EU noted that interested applicants are required to submit their applications via email at Delegation-Nigeria-Recruitment@eeas.europa.eu.
