Peter Obi: No faction in NDC as Dickson mocks PDP, ADC, others ahead of 2027 election

Former Bayelsa State Governor and national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Seriake Dickson, has declared that the party remains united and free from the internal crises currently troubling several political parties across Nigeria.

Dickson made the declaration during the NDC’s first national convention held in Abuja on Saturday, where he maintained that the party has no factions, no leadership disputes, and no pending court matters threatening its stability ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking at the convention, Dickson stressed that the NDC remains one indivisible political platform, adding that members are free to contest for any position without intimidation or division.

“There is currently no legal case or appeal happening against the NDC. There are no groups fighting against each other, and everyone is free to run for any leadership role in the 2027 election without any problems.

“We will find that some of these actions violated our constitutional right to freedom of association.”

The development comes amid the defection of former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, to the NDC, a move political observers believe could significantly reshape the build-up to the 2027 presidential election.

PulseNets learnt that the entry of Obi and Kwankwaso into the party has intensified speculations that both politicians may emerge as the NDC’s presidential candidate and running mate for the next election cycle.

Meanwhile, the NDC has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria as part of its strategic preparations ahead of the polls.
