Natasha Osawaru Idibia Declares: ‘I’ll Be President of Nigeria’ (VIDEO)
Natasha Osawaru Idibia, wife of Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has publicly declared her ambition to become President of Nigeria.
The Edo State lawmaker made the declaration while celebrating her grandfather, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, who recently celebrated his 92nd birthday in Benin City, Edo State.
In a heartfelt tribute to the former Esama of Benin, Natasha spoke warmly about her grandfather and expressed her desire to make him proud by eventually attaining the highest political office in the country.
Addressing her grandfather, she said, “You are amazing. You are like my baby right now. I love you so much.”
She added, “As you age, you become sweeter and better. It’s so amazing to be around you, Grandpa. And sometimes I feel like crying.”
Natasha subsequently revealed that she was determined to become Nigeria’s president while her grandfather was still alive.
“But I promise you that I’ll be the president of this country before you know it,” she said. “And I’ll make you very, very proud.”
The lawmaker also pledged to keep improving herself and doing more to make her grandfather proud, while praying for him to live for many more years.
“And I promise to do better and better by you every day. I promise, Grandpa,” she said.
She further expressed hope that the birthday celebration would mark the beginning of more memorable moments for Igbinedion.
“Today shall be one of the days of your best moment. That means there’s still a year to come.”
Natasha also prayed for divine protection for her grandfather, stressing how important he is to her.
“Grandpa, you will need no special grace because of Him you have. And God will protect you from it because I cannot live without you,” she said.
She concluded her tribute by saying, “May God bless you, my Grandpa. I love you so much.”
Natasha represents Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly and currently serves as the Minority Leader.
She emerged as Minority Leader in August following a reshuffling of the Assembly’s principal leadership positions. Her emergence came after she defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the National Democratic Congress in May 2026.
Before assuming the minority leadership position, Natasha served as Deputy Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly.
Reacting to her emergence as Minority Leader, the lawmaker described the new position as a responsibility entrusted to her rather than an achievement to celebrate personally.
“This new responsibility is not a title; it is a trust. Our democracy thrives on rigorous debate, accountability, and the courage to advocate for the ordinary citizen without compromise.”
The National Democratic Congress became the main opposition party in the Edo State House of Assembly after three lawmakers defected from the APC and PDP to the party.
The NDC subsequently notified the Assembly of the defections through a letter addressed to Speaker Blessing Agbebaku.
In the letter, the party requested that the affected lawmakers be formally recognised under the NDC and nominated Natasha Osawaru as Minority Leader.
However, the request was not immediately implemented.
During the June 22, 2026 sitting of the Assembly, lawmakers raised concerns about the procedure followed by the NDC in communicating the changes.

The Majority Leader, Jonathan Ibhamawu, argued that the affected lawmakers were required to formally announce their defections on the floor of the House before the new political party could officially communicate the changes to the Assembly.
Following the concerns raised, Speaker Agbebaku stepped down the request pending compliance with the required legislative procedure.
