Wike’s Son Jordan Produces American Passport in $2.1m Abuja Land Dispute

The son of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Jordan Nyesom-Wike, has produced his American international passport before an Abuja High Court as proceedings continued in a civil suit involving an alleged $2.1 million land transaction.

Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, sitting in Maitama, had ordered Jordan to present the travel document following questions about his whereabouts on September 26, 2025, the date the claimants alleged that the disputed payment was made.

The case, marked CV/008/2026, was instituted by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited against Jordan over an alleged agreement to facilitate the acquisition of 60 hectares of land in Abuja.

The claimants allege that the proposed acquisition covered 30 hectares in Katampe and another 30 hectares in Guzape.

Jordan has denied the allegations and maintained that he was outside Nigeria on the date the claimants said the $2.1 million was allegedly handed to him.

During cross-examination by counsel to the claimants, Hamza Dantani, Jordan was questioned about his whereabouts on September 26, 2025.

He told the court that he was outside Nigeria on that date and was asked which travel document he used for the trip.

Jordan said he travelled with his American passport and indicated that he could produce it if the court required it.

Following his response, the claimants applied for an order compelling him to present the passport.

Justice Oriji granted the application, making the travel document relevant to the competing accounts of Jordan’s whereabouts on the date of the alleged payment.

At the resumed proceedings on Wednesday, Jordan produced the American passport before the court. The document was admitted in evidence after it was presented before Justice Oriji.

The court made a copy of the passport and returned the original to Jordan, while directing his lawyer to ensure that the original document is produced again whenever it is required during the hearing.

Jordan was represented by a legal team led by Chief Ogwu Onoja, SAN.

What the Claimants Alleged

The passport issue arose from the claimants’ allegations concerning an alleged $2.1 million payment connected to the proposed Abuja land acquisition.

According to their account, they first met Jordan in London and later met him in Abuja, where discussions allegedly continued over the acquisition of land in the Federal Capital Territory.

The claimants said Jordan agreed to assist them in securing 60 hectares, comprising 30 hectares in Katampe and another 30 hectares in Guzape.

They further alleged that Jordan demanded $2.1 million as a facilitation fee for the proposed transactions.

According to the claimants, Jordan allegedly stated that $2 million was meant for his father, Nyesom Wike, while the remaining $100,000 represented his personal fee.

The claimants alleged that the money was delivered in cash on September 26, 2025, in the presence of Adamu Sani, Aliyu Sarki and Sai Wani.

They also alleged that Jordan was accompanied to the meeting by Onor Sandy.

The claimants said the proposed land acquisition was subsequently not completed and alleged that Jordan neither secured the properties nor refunded the money.

They further alleged that their later attempts to reach him were unsuccessful.

Jordan has rejected the allegations and disputed the claimants’ account of the alleged transaction.

After adopting his statement on oath, he maintained that he had no involvement in the transaction as alleged by the claimants.

His defence has also challenged the account surrounding the alleged payment and the proposed acquisition of the land.

Court Examines Other Evidence

The proceedings also featured another evidentiary issue involving Jordan’s handwriting and signature.

The claimants’ lawyer had asked the court to direct Jordan to write his full name and signature five times each on plain sheets of paper.

The request was granted and the exercise was carried out without opposition from the defence.

The samples could become relevant to documents connected to the dispute if questions arise during the proceedings over their authenticity or authorship.

PulseNets learnt that the court has not made any final finding against Jordan over the allegations.

The matter remains a civil proceeding, with the parties continuing to present and test their respective evidence before the court.

The case has been adjourned to December 1, 2 and 14, 2026, for continuation of the trial.
