Alex Iwobi Makes History as First Nigerian to Reach 300 Premier League Appearances
Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has etched his name into the history books, becoming the first Nigerian footballer to make 300 appearances in the English Premier League, PulseNets learnt.
The Nigerian international reached the remarkable milestone after featuring in Fulham’s clash against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday.
Iwobi, who is 29 years old, first graced the Premier League in October 2015 when he made his debut for Arsenal against Swansea City. Since then, his journey through English football has been a story of persistence, consistency, and evolution.
According to records obtained by PulseNets, Iwobi featured in 100 league matches for Arsenal, 123 appearances for Everton, and has now played 77 times for Fulham, bringing his total to the iconic 300-mark.
Throughout his 299 Premier League games before the milestone, the Super Eagles midfielder has delivered 69 goal contributions — 32 goals and 37 assists — underscoring his steady influence across three top-flight clubs.
A Fulham insider told PulseNets that “Iwobi’s professionalism, adaptability, and work rate have been a model for younger players in the squad. Reaching 300 games in such a demanding league is no small feat.”
With this achievement, Iwobi becomes only the fifth African player to ever reach the 300-appearance landmark in Premier League history. He now joins an elite list that includes Kolo Touré (353), Mohamed Salah (309), Wilfried Zaha (305), and Jordan Ayew (305).
