The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been told by the Court of Appeal to immediately end its strike.
However, the court agreed to accept the request with the condition that the union halt the strike immediately and abide by the lower court’s decision until the outcome of the substantive lawsuit.
Following ASUU’s compliance with the lower court’s decision, the court gave them seven days to file their appeal.
According to PulseNets, the National Industrial Court ordered ASUU to end the strike on September 21.
Following a notice filed by the Federal Government requesting that the instructors return to the classrooms, the court issued the order.
In his decision about the interlocutory injunction, the trial judge, Justice Polycarp Hamman, prohibited ASUU from carrying out the industrial action until the outcome of the lawsuit brought by the Federal Government against ASUU.
Angered by the decision, the union went to the appeals court to challenge it.
