Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the vice presidential running partner for the Labour Party (LP), has cautioned other contenders not to underestimate Peter Obi, the nominee of his party.
Candidates for president should not underestimate Obi, according to Baba-Ahmed.
He denied claims made on Channels Television that Obi lacks the organisation and experience necessary to win the 2023 presidential election.
Additionally, Baba-Ahmed rejected the idea that Obi is unwelcome in the nation’s north.
According to Baba-Ahmed: “I went to greet one of my elders and this gentleman came to me with all air of arrogance and said to me: ‘you will get a lot of experience in this contest.’
“I just thanked him. And I said the first advantage you will give to your opponent is to underestimate him.
“I want to be fully underestimated, I want Peter Obi to be fully underestimated by the so-called master politicians, the owners of resources, the owners and masters of structure.”
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Atiku Abubakar and the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Bola Tinubu have both accused Obi of missing the organisation and expertise necessary to win the 2023 presidential election.
