Bigiano Claims He Wrote the Hook of Davido’s Breakout Hit Dami Duro
A fresh claim has emerged around one of Afrobeats’ most defining records, as Nigerian singer Bigiano has asserted that he was responsible for writing a key part of Davido’s breakout hit, Dami Duro.
Bigiano made the disclosure during a recent interview with content creator Akin Abolade, where he stated that his contribution was central to the song’s success. According to him, he specifically authored the hook that became instantly recognisable to fans across Africa and beyond.
“I wrote Dami Duro for Davido. I was the one who came up with the hook,” Bigiano said, as learnt by PulseNets.
The Shayo crooner also addressed questions surrounding his prolonged absence from the mainstream music scene. Speaking on his decision to step back at the height of his popularity, Bigiano explained that it was a deliberate move aimed at long-term relevance rather than decline.
“Sometimes you need to step away to properly reset. I went on a sabbatical so that my return to music would be bigger and more impactful,” he told PulseNets.
Bigiano further dismissed suggestions that his low profile meant financial hardship, stressing that he remains comfortable despite being less visible in recent years.
“I’m not struggling in any way. I can’t be broke,” he added.
Released in 2011, Dami Duro is widely regarded as the record that launched Davido into stardom, establishing him as a dominant force in the Nigerian music industry. The song has since been ranked by multiple local and international commentators as one of the greatest Afrobeats songs of all time, cementing its legacy more than a decade after its release.

Despite Bigiano’s claim, checks by PulseNets show that he is not officially listed among the credited songwriters of Dami Duro. As of the time of filing this report, Davido has not publicly responded to the assertion that Bigiano co-wrote the hit record.
