BREAKING: Turaki-Led PDP Structure Collapses Into Wike-Aligned Faction in Rivers

The leadership crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State took a decisive turn on Friday as the Tanimu Turaki-aligned structure formally collapsed into the faction led by Aaron Chukwuemeka, a bloc loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The development was publicly announced by Robinson Nname Ewor, factional chairman of the Turaki-led PDP in the state, during Wike’s local government tour of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, PulseNets learnt.

The declaration came barely 24 hours after Ewor, while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of allegedly deceiving PDP members by suggesting he possessed the political strength to defeat Wike in the ongoing Rivers power struggle, PulseNets reported.

By announcing the merger, Ewor effectively signalled the end of the parallel PDP structures that have defined the party’s internal politics in Rivers State for months, raising fresh questions about the future of dissenting blocs within the party.

Speaking at the event, Ewor openly identified himself as the PDP chairman aligned with Governor Fubara before relinquishing that position to the Wike-backed faction.

“Let me be clear before I leave here. I am the PDP chairman representing Siminalayi Fubara, and everyone here knows that,” he said.

He continued, “As of today, I am formally transferring the chairmanship and leadership of that faction to Aaron Chukwuemeka.”

Ewor further insisted that the party had now achieved internal unity in the state, placing its leadership firmly under one authority.

“There is no longer any faction within the PDP in Rivers State. The party is now under one chairman, one leadership, and under the guidance of the FCT leader,” he declared.

Political observers who spoke to PulseNets noted that the move is widely seen as a strategic boost for Wike’s influence in Rivers PDP, while potentially weakening Governor Fubara’s grip on the party’s grassroots structure ahead of future political contests.
