BREAKING: We will review Appeal Court’s ruling, decide on next action – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, or ASUU, has stated that it will review the Appeal Court’s decision ordering the union to cease its strike in order to decide its course of action.

According to PulseNets, the appeals court ordered the union to immediately resume work as previously mandated by the National Industrial Court.

ASUU President Professor Emmanuel Osodeke responded to the new court verdict by telling PulseNets that the union has not yet received the Appeal Court decision in writing.

He stated that after obtaining the verdict, the union would review the paperwork with its attorneys and determine its course of action.

He said, “We have not received the ruling, when we get it, we will review it with our lawyer and then we can take the next step”.

PulseNets recalls that on September 11, the Federal Government brought ASUU before the National Industrial Court after failing to establish a truce with the university lecturer.

On September 24, the court issued an order requiring the striking lecturers to resume instruction while talks with the Federal Government are ongoing.

Angered by the decision, the union went to the appellate court to challenge it.
