Prof. Lilian Salami, vice chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), has been chosen to lead the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Federal Universities (CVCNU).
Prof. Yakubu Ochefu, the secretary general, announced it in a statement on Thursday.
At its virtual/physical meeting conducted at its secretariat in Abuja, the new chairman was chosen by a unanimous vote.
Ochefu said that Prof. Sagir Abbas, vice chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), had been chosen to serve as the alternate chairman.
The secretariat wished the two members of the Committee’s Executive Board well as they assumed their new positions of authority.
Salami takes over as the committee’s second female VC. Salami has previously served as Prof. Sulyman Abdulkareem’s alternate chairman.
On October 15, Abdulkareem will no longer serve as the vice chancellor of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).
