Dangote Refinery resumes crude oil importation from US

Dangote Refinery has fixed the price of premium motor spirit, petrol, at N935 per litre, to be sold through MRS retail outlets nationwide.

In a statement seen by PulseNets, the company commended President Bola Tinubu for facilitating the crude-for-naira exchange deal, describing the move as a significant step toward alleviating the challenges faced by Nigerians.

According to the statement, the development will take effect on Monday, 23 December 2024, ensuring that Nigerians can purchase petrol at the newly adjusted price across the country.

“To provide succour to Nigerians, Dangote recently reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N970 to N899.50 at its refinery loading gantry and provided generous credit terms to marketers.

“To ensure that this price reduction gets to the end consumer, we have signed a partnership with MRS to sell petrol from its retail outlets nationwide at N935 per litre.

“This price has already commenced in Lagos, and it will be offered nationwide from Monday,” the statement reads.

PulseNets also reported that Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Refinery, called on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and other oil marketers to collaborate in ensuring Nigerians receive quality petrol at fair prices.

“He called on other oil marketers, such as the NNPC Retail and all other marketers, ‘to work with us to ensure that Nigerians enjoy high-quality petrol at discounted prices,’” the company stated.

It should be recalled that Dangote Refinery recently reduced the ex-depot price of petrol to N899.50 per litre, down from N970, as part of its commitment to easing the economic burden on consumers.
