Dele Farotimi Slams Tinubu Government, Says Nigeria in “Dangerous Free Fall” Amid Rising Insecurity

Nigerian human rights advocate and outspoken public commentator, Dele Farotimi, has issued a searing indictment of the Bola Tinubu administration, warning that the country is sliding into what he described as a “dangerous free fall” as insecurity worsens across several states.

Reacting to the latest wave of attacks in Kebbi and Zamfara, Farotimi questioned the government’s readiness and willingness to fulfil its constitutional duty of protecting citizens. He stressed that the unfolding violence suggests a system that has not only failed but is increasingly losing moral authority.

In his words, “Nigeria is in free fall. The government at all levels has failed woefully in its core responsibilities to the victims. Its conduct has become openly derelict.”

He further asserted in another pointed remark, “This government stands credibly accused of complicity in the many crimes being inflicted on innocent Nigerians. Its refusal to act decisively is an open invitation to true anarchy.”

Speaking directly to President Tinubu, the lawyer did not mince words: “The buck stops with you. Do we still have a country? I honestly struggle to see any semblance of a functioning government.”

PulseNets learnt that the escalating outrage follows the abduction of no fewer than 25 students of the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The armed gang reportedly killed the school’s vice principal during the invasion.
