The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has approved the payment of a N300,000 grant to each Bayelsa indigene currently enrolled in law schools across Nigeria.
This announcement was made during a meeting with representatives of the Bayelsa State Law Graduates Forum held in Yenagoa. Representing Governor Diri at the event, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Biriyai Dambo, SAN, highlighted that the initiative underscores the governor’s dedication to advancing education and alleviating the economic challenges faced by students.
According to Mr. Dambo, the grant is aimed at improving the welfare of the students and supporting their academic pursuits. He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain committed to their studies, emphasizing that their success would not only bring pride to their families but also to the state.
On behalf of the students, Imomotimi Annabel Godspower expressed deep appreciation to Governor Diri for the grant, describing it as a motivating gesture. She also acknowledged the efforts of the Attorney-General for facilitating the initiative and reaffirmed the students’ gratitude for the governor’s unwavering focus on education.
