The Federal Government has strongly dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is using anti-corruption agencies to target opposition parties, PulseNets has learnt.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, told PulseNets that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) are institutions with one mandate: to eradicate corruption in Nigeria.

EFCC and ICPC Remain Independent Under Tinubu Government

Speaking at the ICPC roundtable on agenda setting for strategic collaboration with state commissioners of information in Abuja, Idris reaffirmed that the Tinubu government has maintained a policy of non-interference with anti-graft institutions.

PulseNets reported that Idris stressed corruption remains one of the core pillars of the Renewed Hope Agenda and not a political gimmick.

Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Anti-Corruption Commitment

Idris explained that President Tinubu is deeply committed to strengthening the EFCC and ICPC to ensure they perform their responsibilities independently and without political bias.

In his words, “This administration has drawn a clear line. Anti-corruption bodies are not weapons for political witch-hunt. They act independently, guided by professionalism and the rule of law.”

Nigerians Reassured on Fairness in Anti-Corruption Fight

The Minister further told PulseNets that Nigerians across the political spectrum should rest assured that EFCC and ICPC will discharge their constitutional duties without fear or favour.

“I want to reassure Nigerians and political leaders everywhere that no matter your party or political affiliation, the EFCC and ICPC will remain resolute in carrying out their lawful responsibilities,” Idris said.

State Commissioners Urged to Align with Renewed Hope Agenda

Idris urged state commissioners of information to key into the opportunities available under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he described as a national roadmap for progress.

“I implore you, distinguished commissioners, that regardless of the party you represent, it is essential to key into the vast opportunities embedded in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu,” he added.
