El-Zakzaky Accuses US of Creating Boko Haram, ISIS in Viral Video, Claims Nigerian Politicians Engineered Insecurity
A new viral video has emerged in which the Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, levels sweeping allegations against the United States, accusing Washington of creating and bankrolling Boko Haram, ISWAP, and ISIS.
In the footage, El-Zakzaky suggests that Nigeria’s deepening security crisis is not only externally influenced but also deliberately nurtured by political actors within the country. According to claims obtained by PulseNets, he insisted that those in authority have the capacity to end insecurity immediately but allegedly choose not to.
The IMN leader expressed shock over how individuals once known simply as cattle rearers suddenly possess military-grade weapons and armoured vehicles.
He stated in the video:
“Nigeria’s insecurity did not appear from nowhere. It was crafted by those in power. If they choose to end it today, they can, because they created the conditions that fuel it.”
Questioning the source of their armament, he said:
“How did herders in the bush become so heavily armed? How did so-called bandits come to acquire armoured vehicles and then get labelled terrorists? Who supplied these things?”
El-Zakzaky stressed that the origins of these weapons raise red flags that point directly to state-linked complicity.
He continued:
“Everyone knows where these armoured carriers came from. The truth is that the authorities understand the root of this crisis. If they want it stopped today, they can stop it.”
The cleric went further, making bold external accusations. In remarks learnt by PulseNets, he alleged that the United States is not a neutral player in Nigeria’s security landscape.
He said:
“How can we invite the US to resolve a crisis they allegedly helped create? They created Boko Haram. They fund Boko Haram. They created ISWAP and ISIS. They have admitted openly that terrorism would be used to dominate Africa.”
Describing what he sees as a geopolitical strategy, El-Zakzaky warned that Nigeria risks deeper destabilisation if foreign powers are allowed to intervene unchecked.

He added:
“Inviting them into these issues will only lead to more bloodshed. Wherever there is gold, oil, gas, or any mineral wealth, you will find them nearby. That is why they appear in places like Zamfara and Katsina, claiming to protect certain groups.”
His comments have continued to spark intense conversations online, especially among Nigerians who remain frustrated by the country’s persistent insecurity challenges.
