Fuel scarcity: DSS instructs NNPC and oil merchants 48 hours to make product available

Breaking: Dangote Refinery to supply fuel at N766 — NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and oil marketers have been given a 48-hour deadline by the Department of State Services (DSS) to make Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, accessible to Nigerians.

This information was provided on Thursday by Peter Afunanya, the DSS spokesman, during a press conference held at the agency’s office in Abuja following a private meeting with key players in the oil industry.

He claimed that the NNPC had assured the group that there would be enough product to serve Nigerians both during and after the holiday season.

If they disobeyed the order, he warned, the DSS would begin operating all across the nation.

Afunanya also bemoaned the issue of fuel scarcity, noting that it has grown to a point where it threatens national security.
