ICHC Hails Tompolo’s Visit to Bayelsa, Says It Rekindled Izon Youth Spirit and Unity

Bayelsa State was filled with renewed optimism and cultural pride as High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, better known as Tompolo, paid a working visit that reignited the spirit of unity across the Niger Delta. His presence drew massive admiration as thousands of youths poured into the streets to celebrate the revered leader and symbol of the region’s struggle for justice and self-determination.

Chairman of the Izon Cultural Heritage Centre (ICHC), Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei, spoke to PulseNets about the emotional significance of the visit. He described the atmosphere as

“absolutely electrifying — you could feel the love and admiration in the air. It wasn’t politics; it was the homecoming of a father whose leadership continues to shape the identity and destiny of the Ijaw nation.”

During the visit, PulseNets learnt that High Chief Tompolo paid a courtesy call on Former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at his Otuoke residence. Both leaders, bonded by shared ideals of peace and development, reportedly discussed the progress of the Niger Delta and the importance of sustaining unity among the people. Their meeting, PulseNets obtained, represented a convergence of vision and wisdom from two of the region’s most respected figures.

Continuing his engagements, Tompolo inspected the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Secretariat project in Yenagoa — a landmark structure funded by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. According to information obtained by PulseNets, the project embodies empowerment, cultural pride, and the Ijaw people’s unwavering commitment to purposeful leadership and self-reliance.

The turnout in Yenagoa was monumental. Youths chanted solidarity songs, waved the Izon flag, and hailed Tompolo for his sacrifices in promoting peace, empowerment, and the unity of the Niger Delta. The event, PulseNets reported, became a celebration of renewed hope and collective identity.

Apostle Bodmas, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Izon Cultural Heritage Centre, further told PulseNets that

“Tompolo’s visit was not a mere courtesy call — it reawakened the zeal of Izon youth to dream beyond boundaries, to take responsibility for their future, and to invest their energy into productive ventures that will define tomorrow’s Niger Delta.”
