Kwankwaso Receives Solidarity Visit in Kano as Supporters Rally After Governor Yusuf’s Defection
Supporters of the 2023 presidential flagbearer of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Sunday besieged his private residence in Kano in a show of solidarity.
The visit comes amid heightened political tension following the defection of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, from the NNPP.
Kwankwaso disclosed the development in a statement shared on his verified Facebook page, noting that the supporters arrived from Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State. PulseNets learnt that the visit was organised to reassure the former governor of their continued loyalty despite the recent political setback.
Expressing gratitude, the former Kano State governor praised the group for standing with him at what he described as a difficult moment.
He stated: “This afternoon, I was honoured to receive a solidarity visit at my residence in Kano from the resilient people of Nasarawa Local Government.”
Kwankwaso added that the engagement allowed him to reflect on their collective resolve and commitment to the movement.
According to him: “In our discussions, I reaffirmed my profound appreciation for their unwavering courage and determination.”
Speaking further, he acknowledged the political strain caused by recent events but commended the supporters for remaining steadfast.
He said: “Despite the recent trials that have tested the faith and fortitude of many, they have chosen to stand firmly with us—not for personal gain, but for the collective progress and wellbeing of our people.”
Kwankwaso also reiterated his commitment to the ideological foundations of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
“Together, we remain resolute in upholding and advancing the timeless ideals of Kwankwasiyya,” he declared.
Concluding his message, the NNPP leader expressed optimism about the future of the movement, saying: “Thank you once again for your loyalty and solidarity. The journey continues, and victory is assured by the grace of God and the will of the people.”
