NDC Holds Nationwide Primaries Today as Sole Presidential Aspirant Set for Delegate Affirmation
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is expected to hold its Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship, and State House of Assembly primaries across the country today as the party moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
Reports indicate that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the last general election, who is now the lone presidential aspirant on the platform of the NDC, is set to receive official affirmation from delegates nationwide.
A statement obtained by PulseNets and jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, and National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu, explained that the primaries were rescheduled to today following the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and the public holidays that accompanied the festivities.
The party leadership noted that the adjustment became necessary due to transportation challenges and other logistical constraints experienced by stakeholders across different parts of the country.
According to the statement, the presidential primary election will be conducted through an affirmation process, while governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly primaries will be held through a combination of direct primaries and affirmations.
The NDC leadership further disclosed that committees assigned to oversee the various exercises would collate and process results before transmitting them to the party’s National Headquarters for final consideration.
The statement added that the National Working Committee (NWC) would be responsible for announcing the final outcomes of all primary elections conducted nationwide.
