Francis Biobarakuma has finally declared his interest to run for Bayelsa State House of Assembly to represent the people of constituency III in Nembe Local Government, PulseNets reports.
There have been rumours of his interest of the past two months but when contacted by PulseNets, he didn’t give a conclusive answer saying he was still consulting and watching the system even as a lot of youths have urged him to contest.
PulseNets learnt he took to his official facebook page to make the declaration.
He wrote;
I have come to the conclusion , after much consultation with myself and God, considering my people, most especially the youths, the developmental backwardness, lack of support for education and quality leadership.
It is solely my desire and would be an honour to serve in the position as a State House of Assembly member, Bayelsa State from Nembe Constituency III.
It is said that a developed community is one in which its’ youths are developed. It then means the lack of development in our communities is as a result of underdeveloped youths roving around without direction and purpose.
Our society needs laws that will benefit our people and I mean everyone of us and not just a particular sets of people in our society. It is my honest desire to at every point in time bring development to our people by working in the hallowed chamber in the state house to bring about the good and creative ideas that will be needed to move constituency III and our dear state forward.
The importance of education in our society cannot be overemphasised, therefore it is also within my plans to make sure as a former student leader of National Union of Bayelsa State Students (NUBSS) and one time Senate member of the union in the 21th Senate council who understands the struggle to make sure bursary becomes a law even to the Local Government level. Also the need to give provisional scholarships to deserving students of the Constituency and state at large shall not be left out.
For the longest of time, the political and public sector in our country in general have lacked accountability. We cannot grow as a people if we can’t hold ourselves accountable. It is on this note I would like to tag my campaign theme and motto Accountability and Progress, because where there is accountability, there is progress.
Haven said this, I want to officially declare my interest to run in the forthcoming 2023 state house of Assembly Election to represent the people of Nembe in Constituency III under the great ACCORD party.
The support of everyone is needed to make this a reality, if you are 18 and above make sure you are registered to vote. If you are not up to 18 you can encourage your brothers and sisters, friends and parents to register and vote.
Let us work together to develop ourselves and our state.
