The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has announced plans to celebrate 22 Nollywood icons who will be marking milestone ages of 50 and 60 at the 2025 Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulatory Conference.

Shaibu Husseini, the chief executive officer of the NFVCB, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos. PulseNets learnt that this year’s conference is scheduled for November 18–19, with the theme: “From Volume to Value: The Future of Nollywood in the Digital Age.”

Mr. Husseini explained that the initiative was conceived to spotlight practitioners whose decades of work have profoundly shaped the Nigerian film industry. He noted that the honour reflects the board’s commitment to recognising creatives whose artistic contributions have strengthened national culture, expanded Nollywood’s global influence, and propelled its evolution into a powerhouse of digital storytelling.

According to him, “Celebrating individuals who have given decades of excellence to this industry is not just a gesture — it is an obligation we owe to those who built the foundation of our creative identity.”

PulseNets obtained details confirming that the maiden edition will focus strictly on practitioners reaching these milestone ages in 2025, ensuring what the board described as a more “purposeful and personal recognition process.”

The distinguished honourees include Desmond Elliot, Rita Dominic, Ngozi Ezeonu, Afeez Bello, Adebayo Tijani, Eucharia Anunobi, Kingsley Ogoro, and Bond Emeruwa, a former president of the Directors Guild of Nigeria.

Mr. Husseini said those selected represent some of Nollywood’s most influential actors, filmmakers, and creative innovators whose careers continue to inspire upcoming talents and captivate audiences across generations.

He added that the honour roll is set to become an annual tradition, elevating institutional recognition within the industry.
“Beginning next year, we will expand this honour to include veterans turning 70 and above — the pioneers whose early sacrifices and vision laid the groundwork for today’s Nollywood,” he said.
