1. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and oil marketers were given a 48-hour deadline by the Department of State Services (DSS) yesterday to make Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, available to Nigerians. The DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, disclosed this information to reporters during a press briefing.
2. A friend of PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, Senator Lee Maeba, had his Port Harcourt home attacked on Thursday, and he claims the assailant intended to kill him. About 30 suspected thugs attacked the home of the former senator for Rivers South East, wrecking about 5 cars in the process.

The member representing Gwer East/Gwer West Federal Constituency of Benue State, Mark Gbillah, has declared that the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, is going beyond his mandate by introducing the cash withdrawal limit policy. Gbillah mentioned this in an interview with Channels TV yesterday.

In its plenary session on Thursday, the House of Representatives requested that the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Governor, Godwin Emefiele, postpone the implementation of the policy pending the conclusion of the anticipated consultation on the adherence to the pertinent provisions of the CBN Act and the 1999 Constitution with regard to the apex bank’s monetary policies.

8. Two males were ordered to remain in custody by an Ogba magistrates’ court in Lagos after threatening to post a woman’s naked photos on social media. It was claimed that the defendants, Joseph Chukwudi (23), and Hillary Ogbodo (23), took nude pictures of their female neighbour and threatened to expose them online.
9. General Lucky Irabor, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has promised that the military will rebuff pressure to tamper with the 2023 elections. Irabor added that adequate steps were being put in place to guarantee they obediently follow President Muhammadu Buhari’s direction to maintain neutrality. Irabor was the 61st guest at the Ministerial Media Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team yesterday.

The government of Rivers State has issued a warning to a group that is reportedly planning a campaign of defamation against Governor Nyesom Wike because of his involvement in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) G-5 governors’ collective demand for fairness, equity, and justice. Chris Finebone, the commissioner for information and communications, issued the warning yesterday in Port Harcourt during a press briefing.
