A 19-year-old Nigerian student, Marvelous Ugochukwu, has tragically lost her life after a transport truck reportedly ran a red light and crashed into multiple structures, including a car, bus stop shelter, fence line, and light pole, at the intersection of Dewdney Avenue and Elphinstone Street in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke to PulseNets, the teenager was seated inside the bus shelter moments before the truck rammed into it.

“The driver was trying to beat the red light,” one witness told PulseNets.
“He went straight into the shelter where the young lady was sitting. It was horrifying — everyone around was in shock,” another source added.

PulseNets learnt that the Regina Police Service immediately cordoned off the busy intersection following the fatal crash, which occurred last Sunday.

A post obtained by PulseNets from Just Bins — a local waste disposal company known for breaking community reports — confirmed the details:

“Dewdney & Elphinstone is currently closed after a transport truck reportedly ran a red light, colliding with a car, bus stop shelter, fence line, and light pole. A woman waiting at the bus stop was fatally struck. The car driver was transported to hospital, while the truck driver was taken into custody on scene,” the post read.

Emergency responders pronounced Ms. Ugochukwu dead at the scene, while the driver of the car sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Police immediately detained the truck driver for questioning.

PulseNets obtained information indicating that the incident has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian student community in Regina, many of whom described the tragedy as “heartbreaking and avoidable.”

“Marvelous was full of life — a bright young woman with dreams,” one student told PulseNets. “No one deserves to die like that.”

PulseNets further learnt that a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the Ugochukwu family with funeral arrangements and possible legal expenses. A candlelight procession in her honour is scheduled to hold later today.
