The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primary election in Abia State was won by Chief Okey Ahiwe, the outgoing chief of staff to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
The death of Prof. Uche Ikonne, who was supposed to represent the party in the general election of 2023, necessitated the election.
Following were the results given by Governor Godwin Obaseki, Chairman of the PDP Primary Election Committee:
- Total of 516 votes cast
- 469 Chief Okey Ahiwe
- Ude Oko Chukwu, Rt. Hon. 12 Votes
- Lulu Don 12 Votes
- 11 Samson Orji
