PulseNets learned that the other individuals arrested include Fasasi Abdulahi, 56, the principal of Islamic High School, Ibadan; Genesis Christopher, 24; Tanimowo Moruf, 52; Anisolaja Olabode, 42; Idowu Ibrahim, 35; and Abiola Oluwatimilehin, 25.
Superintendent of Police Adewale Osifeso, spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, told PulseNets in a statement that eight suspects had been detained so far in connection with the incident. The event, organized by Silekunila, Wings Foundation, and Agidigbo FM (media partners), led to the devastating loss of over 35 children’s lives.
Osifeso said, “So far (35) Thirty-Five Minors have been documented Dead while (6) Six others are critically injured and on various Medical Interventions.”
PulseNets reported that the investigation into the tragedy has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department at Iyaganku. The Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the department is leading the probe and ensuring a thorough investigation.
Osifeso added, “In furtherance of the above, the case has since been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku with the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge leading the investigations.”
The Oyo State Police Command assured the public that all individuals found culpable would face prosecution.
