PDP Bayelsa Confirms Governor Douye Diri’s Resignation, Reaffirms Party Unity and Strength

The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially confirmed the resignation of Governor Senator Douye Diri from the party, describing his exit as a personal decision taken in good faith.

PulseNets learnt that the confirmation followed an emergency meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) held on Wednesday evening in Yenagoa, where party leaders formally acknowledged receipt of the governor’s resignation letter. The letter, obtained by PulseNets, was addressed to the PDP Kolokuma/Opokuma Ward 6 Chairman and duly copied to the State Working Committee.

Party officials, while deliberating on the development, expressed deep appreciation for Governor Diri’s “commendable leadership, loyalty, and collaboration” throughout his years as a dedicated member of the PDP.

“Governor Diri has served this party with distinction and sincerity. His contributions to our internal stability and political growth in Bayelsa remain indelible,” a senior party official told PulseNets after the meeting.

The State Chairman, Hon. Solomon Agwana, reaffirmed the PDP’s unwavering unity and commitment to its ideals despite the governor’s departure. He assured party faithful that all structures of the PDP in Bayelsa remain intact and resolute in pursuing the collective vision of the party.

“Our strength is in our unity. The PDP in Bayelsa remains solid, organized, and forward-looking. We respect the governor’s choice but remain focused on our mandate to deliver for the people,” Agwana told PulseNets.

PulseNets reported that the leadership equally extended good wishes to Senator Diri, praying for success in his future political and personal endeavors.
