People always doubted my albums — Davido

‘I feel good’ — Davido relishes performance at BET Awards

David Adeleke, a.k.a. Davido, a Nigerian artist, has discussed his difficulties in persuading listeners to accept his albums.

After 12 years performing live, he stated he was thrilled by the excellent response to his most recent album, “Timeless.”

In a recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, hosted by Adesope Olajide, Davido made a statement.

He said, “I’m happy that people accepted ‘Timeless’. They have always doubted my albums. It’s a different feeling for me because people have never accepted my album and they accepted this one. This is a fresh feeling for me; after my 12 years of killing sh*t!”

“I haven’t felt this much love before. It’s crazy bro,” the DMW boss added.

According to PulseNets, since its release, Davido’s fourth studio album, “Timeless,” has broken streaming records.

As the first African album to top the American iTunes chart, the 17-track album smashed the previous record.

It is also the greatest album first-day stream in Audiomack history and the top charting album by an African artist ever on US Apple Music (peaked at Number 2).

The critics labeled Davido’s 2012 debut album “Omo Baba Olowo,” 2019 sophomore album “A Good Time,” and 2020 third studio album “A Better Time” as “flops.”

The artist was accused of padding album sales by using “old singles,” particularly on the 2019 album “A Good Time,” which had the two-year-old tracks “If” and “Fall.”
