The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has hailed lawyer and human rights advocate, Dele Farotimi, as a symbol of courage in challenging circumstances.
PulseNets learnt that Farotimi was recently remanded in prison custody over allegations of defamation brought against him by fellow lawyer, Afe Babalola.
In a post shared on his personal X account, Obi revealed that he visited Farotimi on Thursday, January 2, after a meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
“Yesterday, following my visit and meeting with President Obasanjo, I made time to visit my dear younger brother, Dele Farotimi,” Obi stated.
He further disclosed that this marked his first opportunity to meet Farotimi since his release from the correctional center in Ekiti.
“Since his return from the correctional center in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him,” Obi said.
The former governor told PulseNets that he was pleased to find the activist in high spirits, applauding his unyielding commitment to the pursuit of a better Nigeria.
Obi added, “@DeleFarotimi exemplifies courage in the face of adversity, consistently taking bold stands for good governance in our nation.
