Pipeline Explosion Strikes Gbaramatu Axis as NNPC Activates Emergency Response Measures

An explosion has rocked a section of an oil pipeline in the Tebijor, Okpele, and Ikporo axis of the Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State, leaving authorities scrambling to contain the incident. The blast occurred at approximately 17:50 hours on Wednesday, according to information PulseNets learnt from official channels.

NNPC Limited’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, disclosed the development on Thursday in a formal statement obtained by PulseNets. Early technical checks, he noted, revealed a significant pressure drop on a Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) pipeline, a signal engineers described as consistent with a loss of containment.

Odeh emphasised that safeguarding residents remains the company’s foremost concern.
He stated: “Our priority at this time is the safety of nearby communities and the protection of the environment.”

Emergency protocols, he confirmed, were immediately triggered. He further explained that NNPC Limited is collaborating with regulatory authorities, first responders, and traditional community structures to ensure a unified crisis-management approach.
According to him: “Emergency response procedures have been activated, and we are working closely with relevant authorities and community leaders to ensure a coordinated approach to mitigate impact.”
