Real Estate Agent Arrested in Sierra Leone for Alleged Murder of Lead City University Student

Nnanyereugo Benjamin Best, a real estate agent who had been declared wanted by the Lagos state police command on October 10, 2023, for his alleged involvement in the killing of a student from Lead City University, Ibadan, on July 13, 2023, has been apprehended in Sierra Leone.

Best was accused of fatally stabbing 21-year-old Augusta Onuwabhagbe Osedion during a heated argument that took place in his Oral Estate, Ajah home on that fateful day.

Following the alleged crime, the suspect purportedly acquired a Sierra Leonean passport and altered his identity, adopting the name Kanu Princeton Samuel, before fleeing Nigeria on July 28.

A widely circulated image of the suspect on various social media platforms significantly aided in his identification. A compassionate individual in Sierra Leone recognized him and established contact with the victim’s mother through social media.

The mother promptly engaged the services of renowned lawyer Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), who assisted the family in liaising with the Sierra Leonean law enforcement authorities.

Upon confirming that the suspect had fled the country, Lagos Police Commissioner Mr. Idowu Ohonbunwa instructed the state police command to issue a public declaration of him as a wanted individual, a status formally declared on October 10, 2023.
