Rivers APC confirms failure of Tinubu’s mediation between Wike and Fubara

Tony Okocha, the caretaker committee chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state, has declared the collapse of President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to reconcile the strained relationship between Governor Sim Fubara and FCT minister Nyesom Wike.

Despite a recent intervention by President Tinubu aimed at fostering peace, the situation has intensified, according to Okocha.

He said the recent demolition of the state House of Assembly Complex and the defection of 27 Assembly members loyal to Wike to the APC have further escalated tensions.

Speaking at a press conference at the APC secretariat in Abuja, Okocha revealed that the reconciliation attempt had failed irreparably, signalling an impasse in the efforts to mend the political rift.

Additionally, Okocha criticized the actions of certain state Assembly members, accusing them of backing criminality and approving Governor Fubara’s proposed budget.

He added that the APC in Rivers State has now decided to invite Wike to join the party, highlighting plans to embrace him as a key leader upon defection.
