Russia vs Ukraine war: Zelensky reveals two key conversations with Pope Francis

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has revealed two key conversations with His Holiness, Pope Francis, amid the ongoing war between his country and Russia.

The war between Ukraine and Russia began in February.

The war enters its twenty-fifth day today, with massive casualties already recorded.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered the invasion of Ukraine over disagreements on some political issues.

Putin had also listed some conditions to end the war.

However, Zelensky has now revealed that he had a conversation with Pope Francis on the difficult humanitarian situation in Ukraine and the blocking of rescue corridors by Russian troops.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, Zelensky said: “Talked to @Pontifex. Told His Holiness about the difficult humanitarian situation and the blocking of rescue corridors by Russian troops.

“The mediating role of the Holy See in ending human suffering would be appreciated. Thanks for the prayers for Ukraine and peace.

Meanwhile, Pope Francis had last week said he would hold an extraordinary prayer called a “consecration” for Russia and Ukraine this week.
