Nigerian Senate has said votes on the Constitution Review will be done electronically and will also be transmitted live on television stations.
Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan stated this in his remark to close Wednesday’s plenary.
Lawan directed the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to ensure the functionality of the electronic gadgets in the red chamber so as not to constitute any encumbrance during proceedings.
He insisted that no excuse will be entertained for the equipment in the chamber not to work effectively as the Constitution Review was a strategic legislative activity.
“Distinguished Senators, we shall cast votes on Constitution Review from Tuesday next week which will last for two days.
“The Chief of the Senate should ensure that all our electronic gadgets are properly checked and are functioning”, he said.
The Constitution Review Report which was earlier laid on the floor of the chambers by the Constitution Review Committee Chairman and Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege on Wednesday would be deliberated for two days beginning from Tuesday 1st March to Wednesday 2nd.
