Senator Ned Nwoko Dumps PDP, Gives Reasons

Senator Ned Nwoko, the representative of Delta North Senatorial District, has officially parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nwoko made his resignation known in a letter addressed to the chairman of the PDP in Ward 8, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The letter, dated Thursday, January 30, conveyed the lawmaker’s discontent with the ongoing issues within the PDP.

PulseNets gathered that Nwoko cited the internal crisis among party members and leadership as a major challenge, making it difficult to promote unity and effectively serve the people’s interests.

According to him, the factional struggles within the PDP and the escalating divisions among its members and leaders have become exhausting.

His words: “My decision to resign is primarily due to the deep divisions and factionalization within the party. Just this week, on January 29, top party functionaries degenerated into physical fights, exposing the irreconcilable differences within the PDP.”

While expressing gratitude to the PDP for providing him with the platform to contest in the 2023 general elections, Nwoko told PulseNets that the party’s current structure in Delta State is no longer suitable for his political aspirations or for fulfilling his campaign promises to his constituents.

“During my campaign, I made solemn and actionable promises to my constituents. However, the current structure of the PDP in our state has not been conducive to realizing these commitments. After careful consideration, I have decided that stepping away from the party is necessary to fulfill my obligations to my people,” Nwoko said.

He further wrote, “While I bid farewell to my membership in the PDP, I remain dedicated to statesmanship, unity, and the advancement of our people. My decision is rooted in the best interest of those I serve.”
