Seyi Tinubu Breaks Silence on VeryDarkMan and King Mitchy Controversy, Denies Sponsorship Allegations

President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, has dismissed allegations linking him to the escalating online dispute between controversial activist VeryDarkMan and digital content creator King Mitchy, as the controversy continues to trend across social media platforms.

PulseNets learnt that the dispute intensified after King Mitchy completed the renovation of a public school within six days, a project she publicly acknowledged was backed financially by Seyi Tinubu. The development later triggered an online exchange with VeryDarkMan, who questioned the handling and accountability of public donations allegedly received by Mitchy since 2025.

Sources familiar with the matter told PulseNets that the activist subsequently accused Seyi Tinubu of sponsoring Mitchy’s charity activities, amplifying the public fallout. PulseNets obtained details of a recent Instagram video in which VeryDarkMan called on Nigerians to hold both Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy responsible should any harm befall him.

Reacting through a series of posts on his verified Instagram page, Seyi Tinubu described the allegations as baseless and misleading, clarifying that his involvement was limited to public philanthropic support.

“Over the past few days, my name has been deliberately drawn into an online dispute between VeryDarkMan (VDM) and King_Mitchy (‘Mitchy’),” he wrote.

“Let me be clear: the allegations and insinuations made about me are false.”

PulseNets learnt that Tinubu explained he met Mitchy once in a public setting, alongside other individuals, where he provided financial assistance to support her non governmental organisation as part of his broader youth empowerment initiatives across Nigeria.

According to his statement, a follow up meeting had been planned to assess the impact of the donation but was postponed due to health related issues.

“There has never been a private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind,” he stated.

The President’s son expressed concern that a dispute he neither initiated nor participated in was being leveraged to undermine his reputation.

He further alleged that VeryDarkMan “appears to have been looking for a trigger” to launch attacks and capitalised on the situation for attention.

“If my name generates attention, let us at least deal in facts. Supporting charitable causes is not a crime. Meeting someone publicly to support their NGO is not a scandal. Repeating falsehoods loudly does not transform them into truth,” he added.

PulseNets reported that Seyi Tinubu also condemned what he described as online harassment and cyber bullying, cautioning that sustained attacks could carry serious mental health implications.

“I will not be bullied, and I will not dignify fiction with panic,” he wrote. “No disagreement should descend into harassment that risks someone’s wellbeing or safety.”

Reaffirming his commitment to philanthropy and youth development, Tinubu noted that for over a decade he has supported programmes in education, enterprise, healthcare and youth empowerment through his foundation and personal initiatives.

“Philanthropy and outreach must never be politicised or weaponised,” he said. “Nigeria needs builders, not bullies. We need responsible discourse, not sensationalism driven by speculation.”

Rejecting the allegations in their entirety, he called for restraint and a return to accountability in public discourse.

“Noise will fade. Character and work endure. I remain committed to serving Nigerians, especially our youth, with integrity and transparency,” he concluded.
