In response to the recent call for President Tinubu’s resignation by the PDP Governors Forum, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has issued a statement dismissing the demand as an attempt to divert attention from the ongoing efforts of the current administration.

Idris emphasized that President Tinubu’s leadership has consistently extended financial support to all state governments, regardless of their political affiliations. He stressed that such support demonstrates a commitment to national unity and development.

“The call for President Tinubu’s resignation is unwarranted and misplaced,” stated Idris in his official statement posted on his X page on Sunday. “It is clear that the PDP and its governors are attempting to undermine the progress being made by the current administration.”

The minister pointed out that the Tinubu-led government has implemented significant reforms aimed at revamping the nation’s economy, initiated during the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari. These reforms include large-scale infrastructure projects, social welfare programs, and initiatives to strengthen the country’s security apparatus.

Furthermore, Idris highlighted the removal of the petrol subsidy as a critical policy decision that has increased revenues for all states, including those governed by the PDP. He underscored the need for accountability and responsibility in the management of these resources.

“While challenges remain, particularly in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, President Tinubu remains steadfast in his commitment to overcoming them,” said Idris. “He will continue to lead with determination and resilience, laying the foundation for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.”
